Clean the floor & countertops
Sweeping your kitchen floor should be a daily task, but cleaning it is a weekly thing. Be sure to find a floor cleaner that suits your flooring style, then get scrubbing! Over a week, all sorts of things can fall on your floor and cause minor stains. The reason you clean it every week is to prevent the stains from setting in and becoming permanent! It makes your kitchen look a lot nicer, that’s for sure.
The same goes for the countertops; they must be cleaned every week – possibly more frequently depending on how messy they get. Again, it makes your kitchen look spotless, while also being more hygienic. Once more, check that your cleaning products are suitable for the material of your countertops.
Dust all surfaces
Dusting your kitchen is another task that should be done each week. You’ll get rid of a lot of it when cleaning the floor and counters, but it still attaches itself to every surface. Look on the cooker hood, microwave, and above any cabinets. You need to get rid of dust every week as it can grow very quickly, causing allergy problems and making your kitchen feel very unhygienic. A vacuum cleaner works well at removing as much dust as possible, or you can use a feather duster for the hard-to-reach areas of the kitchen.

Check your fridge/freezer
Finally, you need to do a weekly check of your fridge and/or freezer. It doesn’t have to be an extensive analysis, just a brief look to see if everything is going well. Fridges break down all the time, and you can click here to learn more. Effectively, your weekly fridge maintenance consists of two things. Firstly, check the temperature to be sure it stays at the same level. If it’s gone too high, your food is at risk of perishing and there could be a problem with the fridge. Secondly, look for any leaks inside and outside of the fridge. Those are the only two things you need to do, and it helps you spot any fridge issues before they become drastic. The same can be done to your freezer – check the temperature and check for leaks.
There you have it; three weekly maintenance tips for your kitchen. As mentioned earlier, some kitchen tasks can be done daily, monthly, or maybe even yearly! But, some regular weekly maintenance is a great way to keep it clean and tidy without much effort. It’s always better to get things clean and organised as often as you can – it’s far easier than planning a massive clean-up every few months!
