What’s one thing you have heard about professional organisers that has stopped you from hiring one? There are so many myths out there about home organizers that people believe that are frankly not true. It ranges from things like “people will think I’m a bad mum” or “I will be judged for having a messy home” and even “I’m going to have to throw everything away and buy lots of new products”.
I decided to put this post together to bust a few of the more popular myths about home organizers that you need to know.

3 Myths about home organizers you need to stop believing today
1 – A Professional Organiser is just a glorified cleaner
This has to be one of the most painful myths that I am trying to debunk on a daily basis. Professional organisers are always confused with cleaners. For those who don’t exactly understand what a professional home organiser does or why you need to hire one, they automatically assume you are a glorified (and quite expensive) cleaner.
Professional organisers are not cleaners. They come to your home to help you organise and set up functional systems that make your home work for you so that you can find what you need more easily, your home is tidy and every item has its own place. A cleaner may be able to do that for you but you wouldn’t hire an architect to build your home for you just like you wouldn’t hire a personal trainer to style your wardrobe would you?

2 – It costs a lot of money to hire a professional organiser
This is not necessarily true as there are different professional organisers out there who charge different fees. If just depends on how much you are well to spend. The average price is about £40-£60 per hour and most organisers clearly display their fees on their website so you are in control of who you hire. You are never bombarded with fees you are not expecting because everything is discussed beforehand. All quotes and product purchases are provided ahead of time and budgets agreed upon and adhered to as much as is possible.
Hiring a professional organiser is an investment into your life and home so definitely worth the money! And

3 – They will make you throw everything away
Whilst it is true that professional organisers love to declutter, they would never make you get rid of things. Decluttering is a fancy word for going through your stuff, discarding anything broken or old. If no longer needed you donate, sell or throw it away. Professional organisers gently guide you through the decluttering process asking you what YOU want to do with the items. We never get rid of it but we can provide our advice and help if and when you need it.
