We could all use a bit more time in the day. There is so much to get done – housework, feeding your kids, grocery shopping – that you barely have any time left to yourself. Maintaining a clean, healthy household takes a lot of work, and it can overwhelm your schedule if you’re not careful. Here are 5 top ways to save time around the house, leaving you productive!

You really want to spend your limited hours on the things that make you happy, such as being with loved ones and pursuing your passions. But errands and chores get in the way. And they never end. Your family always needs to eat and the laundry basket will never be empty. And by the time you’ve finished cleaning your entire house, it’s already starting to get dirty again.
A 25th hour each day would be ideal, but since that’s not going to happen, you’ll have to get smarter with your time. By adopting these time-saving strategies around the home, you will get your household tasks finished quicker and have more leisure time for yourself.
Adopt cleaner habits
Cleaning is only a temporary solution, and you will always have to repeat the process again and again. There’s nothing you can do to prevent this, but you can reduce the frequency by adopting tidier habits. If you always make an effort to tidy up after yourself, you’ll have to do less work later. Enforce household rules about always washing up straight after eating, hanging your clothes up instead of leaving them on the floor, and always wiping down surfaces before bed.
Enlist help
In many households, the duty of cooking and cleaning often falls to one single person. This situation isn’t fair, and you’d have much more time on your hands if you distributed the responsibilities between members of your family. Each person in your household should help out to keep things clean, prepare dinner, and go shopping. The chores will be completed much quicker, and your family will have a new appreciation for the work you do behind the scenes to keep things ticking along.

Automate your life
A self-cleaning house hasn’t been invented, but there are still many automatic alternatives to your manual efforts. The Roomba is an autonomous vacuum cleaner that will hoover your floors without any input from you, freeing you up to focus on other tasks. Gadgets like Merlin garage door remotes, electric whisks, and slow cookers are great options to add minutes to your day.
Eliminate time wasters
When you need to get work done, it’s common to find yourself wasting time by scrolling through social media or being distracted by the TV. Eliminating these time-wasters from your life will benefit you monumentally, so make an effort to break your technology addiction. Turn off your notifications and delete social media apps from your phone. You might find it difficult at first, but your mental health will thank you for it later. Plus you will save time leaving you more productive.
Outsource housework
If all else fails, there is nothing wrong with hiring a cleaner, or even a home organizer (like me!!) to look after your household. Although it will come at a price, you’ll save time and have more of it to make the most of your life.
