Beauty Routine Tips for using a Toner
Use it day and night. Invest in a good face toner to use twice daily after washing your face in the morning when you wake up and at night before bed.
I was sceptical as well and didn’t use a toner. My face always felt dry, uncomfortable and tight. I had many break outs and couldn’t understand why. Then I learned that I was missing a step in my beauty routine: a great face toner!
Morning Routine
I tried a few before finding the ones I felt actually worked for my dry sensitive skin. The one that I really liked was the Clarins face toner with chamomile (US link). I use this every morning after I was my face. I use the Clarins Shea Butter cleanser (US link) in the mornings. On its own my face always feels dry and tight but with the toner it feels more hydrated.
Toner puts back everything cleansers strip away. All the moisture that is striped away by your normal cleanser is reinstated. And that feeling is amazing no long tight no longer uncomfortable. Hydrated and comfortable 😊
Yes the Clarins toner is pricey but its worth it trust me. I tried the cheaper toners from ordinary drugstores but they didn’t work well for me. Everyone is of course different so the most important thing is that you actually have a toner you love.
In my case I like to splurge a little when it comes to my beauty products. Even though I know a brand is just that, a brand, but I believe that after some trial and error you will understand which product is good or not.

Evening Routine
For my evening routine I am currently using the Pixi Glow Tonic Toner (US link). I find this really helps at night with my occasional breakouts and pimples. It contains salicylic acid which is good for drying out inflamed pimples. However if used too often or if the salicylic acid is too strong, it may dry out your skin. In this toner the balance is just right. Fights your pimples and feels gentle too.
If I am having a big breakout (which is caused mostly due to me eating too many chocolates) then I use the Tea Tree Boots brand toner (here is a Body Shop alternative) which is a bit stronger and helps fight my breakout. Plus it makes me feel like my face is really cleansed and fresh!
So there you have it – invest in a great toner or two to add to your everyday beauty regimen.
