What is the point of having a simplified wardrobe, I hear you ask? Well, let’s start with the fact that a simplified wardrobe means less clutter, less stress and more headspace. It also gives you a more visually pleasing area to start the day. When you open your wardrobe would you rather all of your clothes fall all over you or be able to pick out an outfit with ease as you go through your clothes according to category or colour? If you are the latter of the two, please read on.

If you have been on the fence about whether or not to simplify and declutter your wardrobe then here are a few reasons why you should definitely consider it:
Saves money & time
By simplifying your wardrobe you spend less time deciding what to wear. No more wasted hours standing in front of your wardrobe freaking out over the fact that you have nothing to wear. A simplified wardrobe contains only the items that you (1) love, (2) bring you joy and (3) wear.
This makes choosing your outfits MUCH easier from the several items that you actually like wearing. Ever heard of the saying “spoilt for choice” well that is true here too. If you have a lot of clothes in your wardrobe then you will be overwhelmed with what to actually wear. This is why you should consider setting up a capsule wardrobe, which makes it easier to maintain a simplified wardrobe and leaves you with less clutter too! This way it’s much easier for you to put outfits together.
With a simplified wardrobe and capsule wardrobe you’re (supposedly) shopping for clothes less. This also means that you are saving money as you’re shopping with intention and not just mindlessly picking up items that you may not actually wear. I’m guilty of this, unfortunately, especially when I go shopping with no idea on what I actually want to buy and need, I end up coming up with so much stuff that I don’t even need or wear.
Removes stress from your life
Another important benefit of having a simplified wardrobe is the fact that you will no doubt have less clutter in your bedroom/ dressing room/ house. The less stuff you have the less you have to clean and organise. With less stuff comes less clutter. Even if you think you need it and it’s not cluttered today, if you’ve not bought it intentionally, it will become cluttered in a few days. When you have less clutter at home your mind is clear and you are more productive. Being productive allows you to run your life and household more efficiently. You’re not stressing out as much leaving you time to deal with things that actually matter.
Less space is needed for clothes storage
A simplified wardrobe means that you have fewer clothes to organise. Less storage space and systems will be needed as you don’t have to declutter and organise your wardrobe as often. Don’t forget organised clutter is still clutter. People seem to think that to be organised you need to have A LOT of storage items. This is simply not true as a simplified organised wardrobe with less stuff is better. Plus the less stuff you have the less it is for you to clean.
Makes you feel better
Let’s be honest, having a well-organised and simplified wardrobe looks visually pleasing and pretty. When you walk into your bedroom (or if you’re lucky your dressing room) and all of your clothes, accessories and shoes are well organised and look so pretty, you’re mod is automatically lifted and you feel great about your day.
Compare this to a wardrobe that’s overflowing with clothes that she cannot fit into or no longer wants. In this scenario, her whole mood, anxiety and stress levels will rise to the max. Thus setting the tone for her whole day. When you’re organised, you spend more of your energy, time and headspace on the important aspects of your life. This includes your business, family or partner, leaving you more productive and ready to take on the day.
Do you have a simplified wardrobe? If not, what do you think is holding you back from achieving this?

Great post! I started my simple wardrobe by accident and have never looked back. Another great reason to love a simple wardrobe – less laundry! Plus it’s so much easier to put away clean clothes when the drawers aren’t stuffed to the gills!
I totally agree – love tidy drawers and Laundry can be soo daunting when there’s so much of it 🙈
I keep feeling a pull toward trying out a simplified wardrobe, but I love so many of my clothing items, I just haven’t been able to do it. I’ll keep reading inspiring posts like this, and maybe someday! 🙂
