Moving home comes with a long to-do list which will get even longer the closer you get to moving day. But the more you move, the more you notice that there is a specific pattern. You get excited, and then you have some hard work packing everything up, and then the realisation dawns on you that everything takes three times as long. And this means that the pressure ramps up all the way up to moving day. So it is hardly surprising that people find moving incredibly stressful. What does it take to make moving home less stressful for everyone?

Give Yourself Plenty of Time
You might think that there are months until you need to move away, but it always creeps up sooner than you think. And one of the biggest sources of stress when it comes to moving is lack of time. While it’s important to remember that stress will come as part of the process on occasion, you’ve got to make sure that you put enough time in place to get everything done.
If you are looking to sell a lot of your items, or you need to declutter before you pack, make sure you do this at least two months before moving day. And also think about how long it takes you to pack up a home. For example, if you live in a 1-bedroom apartment, it will take about two days to pack up. But a 2-bedroomed home could take up to four days. The more time you give yourself, the less stress you will feel.
Accept That Stress Will Be Part of the Process
If you can accept that as soon as you start putting the wheels in motion, there will be some stress, it won’t set you back when it occurs. It sounds very simple, but making sure that you accept stress to be a natural human response during something demanding means that you can let it wash over you. If you spend the entire process trying to avoid stress, when it finally hits you, it will knock you for six.
Instead, think about some stress reduction techniques, but also learn to accept that whatever will be will be. Stress can be good for you in small doses, and it can be a fantastic motivator. But when it comes to moving home, there are so many things that can seem beyond your control, when in fact, everything is in your control. All you have to do to feel the least amount of stress is to give yourself enough time and accept that some stress will occur.
