Motherhood Tip: Saving Money on Baby Essentials

Motherhood Tip: Saving Money on Baby Essentials

My motherhood tip of the week:

Saving Money on baby essentials

Every parent knows that the most amount of money is spent on nappies and baby wipes! And they are the biggest baby essentials. That’s the case for me anyways…for non-exclusive breastfeeders out there the list may include formula too!

It doesn’t help the situation that there is soooo much choice out there too. Huggies, Pampers, store own branded, Organic, re-useable etc. The list goes on. Buying nappies and wipes in the supermarket was definitely too costly for me so I decided to shop around online. My first (and last) pit stop was Amazon.

For nappies Amazon has a monthly pack (bigger then the jumbo pack) for a very affordable price! Yes ok as you go up a size the price changes but it’s still better than what you get in the store. Plus a monthly pack lasts about a month depending on how frequently you change your baby!

If you use Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program you save a little more. The way it works is that you are basically subscribing to a monthly (or whatever number you want 2,3,4 months etc) supply of Pampers. If you don’t want to subscribe the price difference isn’t too bad – a pound or two at most. I guess you get the added benefit of not forgetting to order and can focus more on other important things.

I find that Amazon’s prices change from time to time but nothing too drastic and from month to month I even get a better price sometimes.

My go to nappy brand for nappies is Pampers but not the ordinary ones – the Premium Protection ones! They are more gentle and kinder on baby’s skin. Keeps nappy rash to a minimum (for us at least) and holds everything in. Ok yes when he wasn’t on solids and had an explosion it did go everywhere but nothing much you can do whatever brand you use!

Here are the nappies I have purchased:

Pampers Premium Protection Size 1

Pampers Premium Protection Size 2

Pampers Premium Protection Size 3

Pampers Premium Protection Size 4

Pampers Premium Protection Size 4+

Pampers Premium Protection Size 5

Pampers Premium Protection Size 6

For my US followers the equivalent is Pampers Pure Protection (which I had in fact tried before when I was on a short trip to Canada)

Pampers Pure Protection Size 1

Pampers Pure Protection Size 2

Pampers Pure Protection Size 3

Pampers Pure Protection Size 4

Pampers Pure Protection Size 5

Pampers Pure Protection Size 6

Baby Wipes

For baby wipes I buy Water Wipes! They, for me and my baby, are the best out there as they are made up of 99% water. You may be thinking there are better and safer wipes out there, and that’s fine. Each to their own of course and no one is judging! A clean and fresh baby is all that matters! 😉😄

Amazon has a huge selection of packs depending on the number of packets you want – it can go up to 1000 or so (actual) wipes in total.

Here are the wipes I buy:

Water Wipes 4 Packs (240 wipes) (US link)

Water Wipes 9 Packs (540 wipes) (US link)

Water Wipes 12 Packs (720 wipes) (US link)

Water Wipes 18 Packs (1080 wipes) (US link)

Little Bonus

I also buy these great disposable mats (US link) for when I change baby and they are really good at holding urine if your baby has an accident whilst changing them!

I hope my weekly motherhood tip on nappies and baby wipes has helped you! Do let me know what other tips you would like me to cover!
