Every parent knows that the most amount of money is spent on nappies and baby wipes! And they are the biggest baby essentials. That’s the case for me anyway…for non-exclusive breastfeeders out there the list may include formula too! Here is my list of money-saving tips for baby essentials.

Money-Saving Tips on baby essentials
Nappies
It doesn’t help the situation that there is soooo much choice out there too. Huggies, Pampers, store own branded, Organic, re-useable etc. The list goes on. Buying nappies and wipes in the supermarket was definitely too costly for me so I decided to shop around online. My first (and last) pit stop was Amazon.
My money-saving tip for baby essentials here is shop at Amazon (check out why I love Amazon Prime). For nappies, Amazon has a monthly pack (bigger than the jumbo pack) for a very affordable price! Yes ok as you go up a size the price changes but it’s still better than what you get in the store. Plus a monthly pack lasts about a month depending on how frequently you change your baby!
If you use Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program you save a little more. The way it works is that you are basically subscribing to a monthly (or whatever number you want 2,3,4 months etc) supply of Pampers. If you don’t want to subscribe the price difference isn’t too bad – a pound or two at most. I guess you get the added benefit of not forgetting to order and can focus more on other important things.
I find that Amazon’s prices change from time to time but nothing too drastic and from month to month I even get a better price sometimes.
My go-to nappy brand for nappies is Pampers but not the ordinary ones – the Pampers Premium Protection. They are more gentle and kinder on the baby’s skin. Keeps nappy rash to a minimum (for us at least) and holds everything in. Ok yes, when he wasn’t on solids and had an explosion it did go everywhere but nothing much you can do whatever brand you use! For my US followers, the equivalent is Pampers Pure Protection (which I had in fact tried before when I was on a short trip to Canada).

Baby Wipes
Baby wipes is another item of baby essentials and my money-saving tip here is to buy in bulk. For baby wipes, I buy Water Wipes! They, for me and my baby, are the best out there as they are made up of 99% water. You may be thinking there are better and safer wipes out there, and that’s fine. Each to their own of course and no one is judging! A clean and fresh baby is all that matters! 😉😄
Amazon has a huge selection of packs depending on the number of packets you want – Water Wipes 18 Packs (1080 wipes) (US link)

I also buy these great disposable mats (US link) for when I change baby and they are really good at holding urine if your baby has an accident whilst changing them!
