As tradition I thought I would do a short little post on my New Year’s resolutions for 2020.
2019 Recap
2019 brought around many great things for me. One of the most important and amazing things was finding out I was pregnant with baby boy no.2. I gave birth to him just before 2020 made an appearance. Little baby boy is now 3 weeks old and is amazing. Sweet, cute, strong and developing very well. The pregnancy was fine, pretty much like last time. However, the birth was very painful. I didn’t get an epidural and the gas and air wasn’t working. Pushing a 3.6kg baby out without any pain relief was the most painful thing ever. I honestly cannot believe I did it. Yes it is true that the second baby comes faster. He did come out pretty quick but this was way more painful then the first time.
The rest of the time spent in 2019 was raising my little toddler: teaching him different things and proudly seeing him grow up. He has become incredible. Turned 1, learned to walk, say a few things and understands practically everything. I am in awe as to how clever he is. He is now 19 months and I cannot wait to see what 2020 brings for him.
Looking back at my resolutions for 2019, I didn’t really get a whole load of them done. So I am slightly changing them into actually do-able resolutions – and I think the key here is to keep them more or less achievable and simple.
My New Year’s Resolutions for 2020 are…
1. Work on my blog
I didn’t really do much on my blog from around February/ March time. I really upped my game for the first few months of 2019 but then as my son got older and more active plus my new pregnancy, time left to spend on my blog was next to nothing. So of course I didn’t stick to my blogging schedule 🙁
For my New Year’s resolutions for 2020, I resolve to focus primarily on my blog and producing good, interesting and helpful content. Most importantly, however, I resolve not to put pressure on myself by having a schedule I cannot stick to and by producing too much content too frequently.
Sticking to a very rigid and difficult schedule will only stress you out and make you confused. I will try to produce between 2-4 posts a month but only do it when I am feeling productive and creative otherwise forcing yourself you write something meaningful will only cause you more headaches and poor quality posts. Quality over quantity is and always has been the key to any good writing.
2. Get more fit and workout
Not much to be said on this as this resolution is very important now more than ever. My New Year’s resolutions for 2020 are to get toned and be tummy-less by August.
I am giving myself 8 months to get in shape, lose 10kg (to get back to my pre-pregnancy no.1 weight) and look and feel amazing. I must fit into a two-piece bikini come the summer. No doubt about it.
One little problem I have however, is that baby no.2 decided to leave me with some stretch marks which I also have to work very hard at to remove them as much as possible. Currently, I am using this Mustela stretch mark cream (US link) every day – any other tips you guys have to get rid of stretch marks?
3. Create my Planner app
I have decided that this resolution needs to be put on the back-burner, as I need to decide on a few important things before I can think about this app. This idea will not be ignore completely but this isn’t something I can focus on right now.

4. Study something new / career change
I really did want to give this resolution a full go but I think I was kind of pushing it by thinking I would squeeze in a new course with a toddler and pregnancy. I still have to keep this resolution realistic as now having a toddler and newborn will keep me pretty busy.
This will need to be revisited and most importantly about my career plans come September and before the end of 2020 as I need to think about where I am going with being a stay at home mum and continuing my law career and/or changing things up and moving my career in a different direction.
The possibility of me having to do some work from home (preferably law related to start with) will need to be explored, as we need money and from there think about where I want to go with my event planning or hotel business dreams.
For my New Year’s resolutions for 2020, I resolve to finally decide on where my future – career wise – will go. And how I will raise my two little boys as I want to spend as much time with them as possible and lead them in the right direction for the most perfect life.
5. Work on my Instagram posts, stories and following
I didn’t really focus on my Instagram much which definitely sucks as I was actually doing so well and my following had reached around 1240 followers but I really let myself slide and crash.
To make Instagram work as great as those amazing bloggers you really need to invest a lot of time. I am not saying that I cannot do that it’s just to invest all that time to staring and typing away on my phone, I have to deduct from my time I can spend with my little boy and newborn.
It takes me away from the world and reality. Plus let’s be honest, to have a great Instagram you need to have a fun and full life otherwise my stories and posts will be of me mostly stuck at home breastfeeding, cleaning and sleeping. How many people are really gonna follow that?? I will still do my best with Instagram as much as real life allows me to but I will definitely keep my expectations realistic.

So that’s that – I welcome 2020 with open arms. I resolve to be more in the moment, enjoy life’s little blessings and take each day at a time. Planning and focusing on the future stops you from living your life today. Don’t put off what you can do today, for tomorrow, as you will miss the amazing-ness of today.
